A tragic incident unfolded as Subhankar Sadhukhan, a 44-year-old police constable, took his own life by shooting himself with his service revolver aboard the Howrah-Bardhaman local train on Friday.
The distressing event occurred near Palasit station, where Sadhukhan, stationed in the ladies' compartment during duty, unexpectedly shot himself in the head. Eyewitnesses recounted receiving mobile phone alerts before the devastating act took place. Sadhukhan, a resident of Barnilpur, Burdwan, tragically ended his life while on duty, leaving authorities and fellow passengers in shock.
GRP's SRP Howrah, Pankaj Dwivedi, detailed the preliminary investigation's findings, suggesting that Sadhukhan might have been battling personal issues, leading to severe mental distress culminating in the tragic suicide. While the Railway authorities are probing further into the incident, focusing on potential underlying reasons, Sadhukhan's body has been recovered and sent for post-mortem analysis.
